The Tora Tygerberg Challenge was an incredible success, leaving everyone thoroughly satisfied. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, and the support for each participant was truly heartwarming. A hearty congratulations goes to the New World Shotokan team for their impeccable organisation, contributing to the tournament's outstanding quality.With a total of 141 competitors and 32 teams representing 9 dojos, totalling 308 entries, the event was nothing short of impressive.Brackenfell Shotokan Karate Academy proudly entered 41 competitors and 16 teams, resulting in an impressive medal haul: 32 gold, 21 silver, and 14 bronze, totalling 67 medals and earning us 1,666 points, securing second place overall. Additionally, six of our students secured spots in the Top 10 rankings.A special shoutout to Christiaan Immelman for achieving the top spot overall and earning the title of best male competitor, as well as Ricki Roland for securing the first place for best female competitor.We extend our heartfelt congratulations to NWS Neko Karate for clinching the coveted overall first place. What another fantastic day at the dojo! Brackenfell Shotokan Karate Academy proudly participated in the MASA SAKMAA / SARMAF Western Cape Championships on Saturday, April 13th. The event showcased the skills of nine martial art schools, encompassing disciplines such as Tang Soo Do, Taekwondo, Goju-Ryu, Shito-Ryu, and Shotokan-Ryu.Our academy fielded 20 talented competitors, who demonstrated exceptional skill and determination. Their efforts were rewarded with an impressive medal haul: 14 gold, 14 silver, and 6 bronze, totalling 34 medals. These achievements earned us a remarkable 239 points, securing the coveted first place overall.Additionally, we're proud to announce that two of our students secured spots in the Top 10 competitors, showcasing the depth of talent within our ranks.Congratulations to all our students for their outstanding performance and dedication. Your hard work and commitment continue to inspire us all!
🗣️ Gary Grapentin Appointed WUKF President for Africa The World Union of Karate-Do Federations (WUKF) proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Gary Grapentin as WUKF President for the continent of Africa. Having previously served as the WUKF Liaison Lead for South Africa, Mr. Grapentin brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his new role. His outstanding leadership qualities and deep understanding of the intricacies of the continent make him the ideal candidate to further the development of WUKF Karate in Africa. In his capacity as President, Mr. Grapentin is committed to growth, promoting inclusivity, and upholding the values of WUKF across the African continent. Mr Grapentin said: "I am deeply honoured and excited to take on the role of WUKF President for Africa and look forward to sharing the ethos of Karate for all; creating opportunities for athletes, coaches, and enthusiasts across Africa." The news of the promotion was shared during the Opening Ceremony of the recent WUKF South Africa National Championships and Africa Open by Roy O’Kane from the WUKF Executive Committee.#WUKF #worldkarate #karateforall
